Here’s a nice face you’ll see a lot around Brand Commune. On many of the projects you see profiled here, Susan Knape not only alternates between collaborator and client, she may also be, more than any other individual, responsible for the fact the gathering even exists.

It was Susan who, in the early ’90s, imported Les Kerr and Jim Starr from their little Oklahoma City shop to act as co-creative directors for her new design firm, The Knape Group. They in turn recruited Les Baker and Danny Nguyen, and in the decades since, these fellow-Communers have collaborated on a wide variety of projects for Susan, first at the law firm Baron & Budd and now at Susan Knape Associates and A Case For Women.
